The Central government on Thursday cleared the appointment of seven judicial officers as judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The appointed officers are:

  • Roopesh Chandra Varshney;
  • Anuradha Shukla;
  • Sanjeev Sudhakar Kalgaonkar;
  • Prem Narayan Singh;
  • Achal Kumar Paliwal;
  • Hirdesh; and
  • Avnindra Kumar Singh

Notably, Roopesh Chandra Varshney, a senior member of the Madhya Pradesh Higher Judicial Service, is a retired district judge.

The appointments were made after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the same on April 5, 2023.

As on March 1, 2023, the Madhya Pradesh High Court is functioning with 31 judges against a sanctioned strength of 53, a vacancy position of 22.
